Food For Thought

Fear

Have you ever wander what's one of the greatest weapon that Satan has against God? The weapon is "FEAR". Unknown to us, Satan has secretly placed this weapon into the heart and soul of every human being, not sparing even the little ones.

A toddler dare not to go into a particular room when it's dark because "many people block my way"
---- She actually saw the ghosts.

A ten year old little boy cannot sleep without being surrounded by big bolsters and pillows. The bolsters and pillows are his protection against any "imaginary" monsters.

Another ten year old boy dare not to let his parents sign his test paper because he only has 90 over marks.

A teenager cannot sleep for fear of failing her examination.

A young adult who is always fearful of not meeting datelines. When she has met the datelines, she's fearful of meeting her own deadlines
--- Due to over-exhaustion.

A middle-age lady who is only 50% successful (in her own opinion) fearful of others being more successful than herself.

A married man fearful of facing a broken marriage.

A middle-age successful man fearful of falling from his ladder of success. So he works even harder not knowing that death may be at his door-step any time now.

A middle-age lady cannot sleep because she has disturbances from some ghost every now and then. Her bed will be shaken or something else may happen when they "visit" her.

Another middle-age lady always lost her sleep due to horrible dreams.

A terminally ill patient fearful of the sickness and the pain and helplessness that follows.

The family members of the sick person fearful of what may happen to the patient later.

The old and unwanted ones fearful of the loneliness that seems to accompany them wherever they are.

The above-mentioned are true people that I've met, and I believe, there are many more. We have become prisoners of fear. As Easter is approaching, the Good News is : Jesus, though initially fearful of the death that he has to go through, has over-come this fear which is so explicit as shown in His prayer in Gethsemane. He face his death on the cross fearlessly. Over the centuries, many God's servants have learned to overcome the fear within them and accomplished their missions on earth for God.

This is just a sharing, an encouragement and invitation to all of you that, to browse through your inner self so to detect this secret weapon before it's too late. This is also an encouragement for all of us to keep an eye open for such people - people who has fear for something but still wear a smiling face.

Man's Desires!

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

The Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box. Curious, and somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angry, he rose his voice to his father and said "with all your money, you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realised his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still gift-wrapped Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.

His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt.7:11, "And if ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father which is in Heaven, give to those who ask Him?" As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessings because we can't see past our own desires???????
